In celebration of Pharmacy Appreciation Month 2024, the New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association (NBPA) is pleased to announce a newly established partnership with MAPflow, available exclusively to Association members. This valuable collaboration will allow NBPA members access to the MAPflow program at an exclusive discounted rate.

As a cutting-edge and recently developed program, MAPflow enhances pharmacists’ ability to efficiently and effectively deliver minor ailment services in practical settings, including pharmacies and clinics across the province. The platform and details about this new partnership will be showcased at the upcoming New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference from April 26-28, 2024, at Delta Hotels by Marriott Beausejour in Moncton.

MAPflow provides pharmacists with a streamlined workflow, simplified documentation, and a seamless experience in minor ailment service delivery. The unique partnership between MAPflow and NBPA includes a comprehensive suite of custom-built clinical algorithms tailored specifically for the province’s practice environment.

“The New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association has made some important breakthroughs in the past year, which are helping New Brunswickers access the health care they need,” said Anne Marie Picone, RPh, a practicing pharmacist and NBPA’s interim executive director.

“NBPA is committed to supporting pharmacy professionals with their operational needs. We know that since the Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA) partnered with MAPflow, it has been a valuable resource to successfully prepare pharmacists to make confident, evidence-based decisions while assessing patients.”

MAPflow’s industry-specific software is meticulously designed and regularly updated by a team of pharmacy educators led by community pharmacist and academic, Nardine Nakhla, PharmD.

Dr. Nakhla’s extensive research and expertise in minor ailments underscores the importance of reliable, resilient, interconnected health systems, with the overarching goal of delivering sustainable and accessible primary care. “MAPflow's robust algorithms have demonstrated a remarkable 97% symptom resolution or improvement upon follow-up, highlighting the exceptional effectiveness of the product," Dr. Nakhla notes. "This state-of-the-art tool generates insightful analytics, fosters shared clinical decision-making, and is meticulously aligned with New Brunswick legislation.”

Innovative partnerships like MAPflow-NBPA empower pharmacists to deliver patient care that is both customized and highly responsive. These collaborative initiatives in digital health further align with the province’s overarching goal of providing accessible healthcare options to patients while minimizing visits to our overburdened emergency departments, walk-in clinics and doctors’ offices.

The strategic deployment of this tool across pharmacies in New Brunswick exemplifies NBPA’s forward-thinking leadership, which is anchored in modernization and transformation, integrating the latest technological advancements to elevate patient care.
