Smoking is a main risk factor for chronic diseases such as cancer, lung disease and cardiovascular disease. Despite the known health risks about tobacco, nearly 14% of New Brunswickers over the age of 15 smokes. According to 2017 national survey data, 16.7% of New Brunswick youth aged 15-19 reported trying e-cigarettes (vaping).

If you would like help to stop smoking, your pharmacist can help you develop an individualized plan to quit.

Your local pharmacist can provide advice and counselling about:

  • Smoking cessation medications (both prescription and over-the-counter)
  • How to manage nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms
  • How to handle relapses
  • How to find other support networks and resources to help you quit
