Ayub Chishti of Campus Pharmacy in Fredericton was presented with the Bowl of Hygeia at the New Brunswick Pharmacists' Association's (NBPA's) PharmaNB 2025 conference on Saturday, May 24.
The Bowl of Hygeia is NBPA's most prestigious award, recognizing a pharmacist whose impact extends beyond professional duties. This award recognizes the valuable contributions pharmacists make, with a special emphasis on community service.
While Campus Pharmacy is open to anyone, it is a particularly important access point to health care for the university community in Fredericton. Ayub has received awards from both St. Thomas University (STU) and the University of New Brunswick (UNB) for his invaluable contributions.
Outside the pharmacy, Ayub has supported various charitable organizations in the Fredericton area, including Chrysalis House, which provides supportive living arrangements to youth in transition.
Ayub’s contributions to the pharmacy profession span his entire forty-year career. He has worked with the Federal disability pension tribunal, the New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association (NBPA), and he has met with many political leaders to urge an expanded role for pharmacists in delivering health care to New Brunswickers.
The testimonial that accompanied Ayub’s nomination for the Bowl of Hygeia celebrates why his worthy of the honour:
Ayub has owned community pharmacies in the York County area for over 40 years. Currently, he manages the Campus Pharmacy on the UNB campus, which see patients without appointments anytime they are open, for any service a community pharmacy can offer in NB. Ayub's pharmacy operates at full scope based on current practice guidelines. Some days, he will see 100-200 patients in 7 hours. Ayub has spoken with the Premier and the Health Minister regarding expanded scope for pharmacists in NB. He continues to embody the patient-first mentality that the community deserves, and so desperately needs.
NBPA’s board of directors and staff congratulate Ayub Chishti, the 2025 recipient of the Bowl of Hygeia.
