The NBPA honoured Frank Oulton of Sackville with the Bowl of Hygeia on Saturday at their Awards Gala held as part of the New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference.
The Bowl of Hygeia is the most widely recognized international symbol for the pharmacy profession and is considered one of the profession’s most prestigious awards. This award recognizes pharmacists who make outstanding contributions to their profession and to their communities.
Frank earned a BSc. in Pharmacy from Dalhousie University in 1980. He went from working part-time at the 'old Henderson's Pharmacy' to staff pharmacist and eventually owner, purchasing that business in 1983. He sold the pharmacy in 1991, but continued to serve as manager. He opened Pharmacie Rogersville in 1986, and continues to own and operate the pharmacy while supplementing his hours by doing relief work at other pharmacies.
Frank has been tireless in his contributions to the people of Sackville and surrounding areas. He is the sort of citizen that every community needs if it is to continue to offer top-quality programs for its young people, and he demands only the best out of his charges. Whether as a kinsman, a coach, a volunteer, a member of his church, or as a dad, Frank has always been there for his family and neighbours.
The New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference was held in Fredericton from Friday, June 10, through Sunday, June 12, 2011. The New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association is the voice of pharmacists in the province, committed to providing leadership for the profession and improving the health of New Brunswickers.
