Pharmacists from across the province gathered in Saint John on Saturday to pay tribute to the best and brightest in their profession.
The New Brunswick Pharmacists' Association honoured Jacqueline Mouris and Pamela Yafai with New Practitioner Awards at their Awards Gala held as part of the New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference. This award is presented to a new pharmacist (five years or less since graduation) for exceptional service through innovation or contributions to his/her community.
Since her graduation from Dalhousie University in 2006, Jacqueline has been involved in many professional organizations, including the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Society Council, therapeutic and continuing education committees, and the CSHP National Finance Committee. She also participated in CPhA's Kids and Medicine pilot project. Jacqueline's community volunteer experiences include the Canada-Africa Community Health Alliance, MS Society of Canada, and acting as a member of the Board of Directors for MADD.
Pamela graduated from Dalhousie University in 2007 and began working as an oncology pharmacist at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Her residency research on parenteral-to-oral stepdown protocol demonstrated substantially reduced costs and the possibility of shortened hospital stays, and was incorporated into hospital policy.
The New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference was held at the Delta Brunswick from Friday, May 28, through Sunday, May 30, 2010. The conference included the annual general meetings of the New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association, the NB Chapter of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Society, professional development sessions and a keynote address.
The New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association is the voice of pharmacists in the province, committed to providing leadership for the profession and improving the health of New Brunswickers.
