Approximately 200 pharmacists from across the province gathered in Fredericton on Saturday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the New Brunswick Pharmacists' Association.
The NBPA honoured Ryan Quinn of Fredericton with the New Practitioner Award on Saturday at their Awards Gala held as part of the New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference. This award is presented to a new pharmacist (five years or less since graduation) for exceptional service through innovation or contributions to his/her community.
Mr. Quinn is a pharmacist at Shoppers Drug Mart, Fredericton Medical Clinic location, where he spends half his time in a traditional dispensing role and the other half providing clinical services, such as medication reviews and team rounds for nursing homes. He is also a consultant for Extramural Nursing.
During the years since his graduation, Ryan has been involved with many community groups and enjoys public speaking to various organizations. Ryan is currently studying to become a Certified Diabetes Educator.
The New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference was held in Fredericton from Friday, June 16, through Sunday, June 18, 2006. The conference included the annual general meetings of the New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association, the NB Chapter of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Society, professional development sessions and a keynote address by Michelle Styles, Director of Information Services with the National Pharmacy Association in Great Britain.
The New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association represents pharmacists across New Brunswick in community, hospital and industrial settings and is celebrating its 25th anniversary in June of 2006.
