The NBPA has honoured Christine Boudreau of Caraquet with the Scott Knowles Memorial New Practitioner Service Award on Saturday at their Awards Gala held as part of the New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference.
This award is presented to a new pharmacist (five years or less since graduation) for exceptional service through innovation or contributions to his/her community.
Christine Boudreau encompasses the new generation of clinical pharmacists and is completely devoted to the enhancement of the pharmacy profession. She graduated with a PharmD from L’University de Montreal in 2013, and has been a pharmacist at Jean Coutu in Caraquet for the last two years. In less than one year, Christine found her place in their small community and earned the respect of the local doctors who recognized her advanced pharmaceutical knowledge.
In addition to offering excellent patient centered care, she has managed to motivate her co-workers to better themselves in their profession. She has completed her injection training and motivated others to do the same; established immunization protocols at her local pharmacy; served as an internship supervisor at the L’Université de Montréal and the L’Université de Laval; served as a preceptor for seven students as well as conducted two community health clinics. She takes an active role educating the public about topics including smoking cessation, antipsychotic drugs and drugs of abuse. She has also worked with local municipal authorities to help organize and promote a medication return program for unused prescription drugs.
We’re proud of the work she does to help her patients and enhance her profession.
