The NBPA honoured Adam Somers of Atholville with the New Practitioner Award on Saturday at their Awards Gala held as part of the New Brunswick Pharmacy Conference.
This award is presented to a new pharmacist (five years or less since graduation) for exceptional service through innovation or contributions to his/her community.
Originally from Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Adam attended the Dalhousie University College of Pharmacy and served as President of CAPSI. After graduation in 2006, he moved to Atholville, New Brunswick, where he is an Associate-Owner of the Shoppers Drug Mart. Adam is a member of the NBPA Professional Development Committee, and represents District 5 on Council. He was voted "Best Pharmacist" in his community by members of the public.
Pharmacists from across the province attended the annual conference held over the weekend at the Delta Hotel in Fredericton. The conference included the annual general meetings of the New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association, the NB Chapter of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Society, professional development sessions and a keynote address by André Picard, Health reporter with the Globe & Mail.
The New Brunswick Pharmacists’ Association is the voice of pharmacists in the province and is committed to providing leadership for the profession and improving the health of New Brunswickers.
