A Community Pharmacist's Guide to Assessing & Treating Pharyngitis

Pharyngitis Clinic Feb 2025

A program offered by the NBPA with Dalhousie University Continuing Pharmacy Education.

Join Dr. Emily Black (PharmD) and Nurse Practitioner Laurie Graham for a 2-hour clinical workshop. Compare and contrast viral and bacterial pharyngitis, provide guidance on physical assessment and interpretation of microbiologic testing, identify therapeutic goals and treatments, recognize and refer complications, complete a head/neck exam and throat swab, and describe the sensitivity and specificity of rapid antigen detection tests, molecular tests, and throat cultures in diagnosing pharyngitis.

An optional 2-hour POCT device demonstration and Q&A session with representatives from Abbott Rapid Diagnostics will follow the education session.

LOCATION: Hampton Inn & Suites, 700 Mapleton Road, Moncton
DATE/TIME: Saturday, Feb 1 from 1-5 p.m. OR Sunday, Feb 2 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
COST: $75. FREE for NBPA members!

This program has been accredited for a Maximum of 2 CEUs (1 CEU/hour) by Continuing Pharmacy Education, College of Pharmacy, Dalhousie University.
