Statement on Flu Vaccine Precautions Ordered by NB Public Health
Monday, November 16, 2020

New Brunswick pharmacists along with other healthcare providers have received the advisory from Public Health about adverse events, which are under investigation, that occurred in three individuals who received the flu vaccine from a particular lot in October.

Pharmacists have been made aware of the Public Health recommendation that providers, as a precaution, set aside any remaining inventory from this lot until further notice.

The New Brunswick Pharmacists Association (NBPA) will continue to forward all Public Health information on this matter to its members. We support Public Health’s advice to both the public and to healthcare providers who administer flu shots.

Immunization is our best defence against influenza, and severe reactions are rare. Vaccine that is not part of this specific lot is still available, and we support Public Health’s advice that encourages New Brunswickers to get the flu shot if they have not already.
